Privacy Policy

Video Controls for Instagram is a Chrome extension that adds a video player toolbar to videos on instagram.com. It does not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. It has no servers of its own and it never sends anything over the network.

The extension is published by VidPickr (“we”, “us”), the team behind vidpickr.com. Questions about this policy go to [email protected] and a real person will reply.

Only your own toolbar preferences, and only on your device:

• Playback speed and volume level
• Picture settings (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue)
• Toolbar options: position, auto-hide, keyboard shortcuts, skip length, whether to hide the story reply bar, and what to remember between visits

These are saved with Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). They are not synced to your Google account, never leave your browser, and are deleted when you remove the extension. The reset button in the settings popup clears them at any time.

• Your name, email, Instagram account or any login details
• The videos, stories, posts, messages or comments you see on Instagram. The extension only attaches controls to video players on the page. It does not read or record page content.
• Your browsing history, tabs or activity on any other website
• Analytics, usage statistics, crash reports or advertising identifiers

The extension makes no network requests of its own. It contains no trackers and loads no remote code. Everything it runs is inside the package you install from the Chrome Web Store.

• Access to instagram.com, so the toolbar can appear on Instagram’s video players. The extension does not run on any other site.

When you click Save frame, the current video frame is turned into a PNG inside your browser and downloaded straight to your computer. It is not uploaded anywhere and we never see it.

None. The extension does not share data with anyone because it does not collect any. If you also use vidpickr.com, that website is covered by the separate VidPickr privacy policy.

The extension collects no data from anyone, including children. Instagram’s own age requirements apply to using Instagram itself.

If a future version ever needs to handle data in a new way, this page will be updated before that version is released and the “Last updated” date above will change.
