YouTube pin comment failing — fix the channel-side pin

You're the channel owner and want to pin a comment on your own video. The "Pin" option in the comment's three-dot menu doesn't appear, or it appears but doesn't persist after page reload.

Why this happens

  • You're not signed into the channel that owns the video (signed into personal account vs channel Brand Account).
  • Already have a pinned comment — only one pin per video; have to unpin first.
  • Comment is from a different account that doesn't allow pinning.
  • YouTube Studio session conflicting with the regular YouTube interface.

How to fix it

  1. 1

Confirm you're signed into the channel's account

Profile icon top-right → switch to the Brand Account that owns the video, not your personal Google account. Only the video owner can pin.

  2. 2

    Unpin existing pinned comment

Each video has only one pin slot. If there's already a pinned comment, unpin it first (three-dot menu on the existing pin → Unpin), then pin your target.

  3. 3

    Use YouTube Studio

studio.youtube.com → your video → Comments → find the comment → pin from there. The Studio interface is more reliable than the public-facing comment thread for moderation actions.

  4. 4

    Refresh and try again

Stale session state can break moderation actions silently. Refresh fixes it.

Frequently asked

How many comments can I pin?
One per video. To highlight multiple comments, use the heart-emoji (creator like) on the others — it shows them with a special badge in the thread.
