YouTube subscriptions feed empty — fix the missing uploads
You have subscriptions but the Subscriptions tab is empty, or shows fewer videos than expected, or stops loading partway. The feed of new uploads from your subscribed channels isn't working as expected.
Why this happens
- Subscriptions service had a regional outage (YouTube has had several since 2024).
- Account got signed out without notification — viewing an "empty" feed of zero subscriptions.
- You're looking at the wrong account's subscriptions.
- Channels you subscribed to haven't uploaded in the time range you're viewing.
- Subscription filter is set to "Today only" or similar narrow window.
How to fix it
- 1
Confirm you're signed in to the right account
Profile icon top-right → check the account. Multi-account is the most common cause — you're on Account B which subscribes to nothing, while Account A has your real subscriptions.
- 2
Visit /feed/channels to see all your subscriptions
youtube.com/feed/channels lists every channel you subscribe to with its latest upload date. If the list is right but the feed is empty, recent uploads exist but aren't loading. If the list is missing channels, the wrong account is signed in.
- 3
Hard reload the subscriptions page
Cmd+Shift+R on youtube.com/feed/subscriptions. Clears the cached "empty" state.
- 4
Check filter / date range
On the subscriptions page, look for a filter dropdown. If set to "Today" or similar, only today's uploads show — try "Last 7 days" or "All".
- 5
Wait if YouTube's service had an outage
Check downdetector.com/status/youtube. Subscriptions service has had standalone outages multiple times. If others are reporting the same issue, wait.
